Clip 28
i have created the second rotoscope in AE. for this one i was quite keen on using some unusual colours so i have tried to make it look like a 3D pop out book using reds and greens.
Clip 8
for the first clip i am going to rotoscope i will do it in flash again as i enjoyed it and this clip isnt as long as some others its only 65 frames.

Massive Problem
so basically got to my lesson today to hand in the work and realized i have actually done the wrong sections for the video which isnt at all good, after spending hours on it. so the only option is that i have to do the sections that i unfortunately missed. as my time on this is going to be much shorter and i need to get them done as quick as possible i have decided to create and improvise the techniques of rotoscoping as i go along.

what suits best
after trying to fit patterns in with my i have had to use different shapes in the background i have a idea a strong colour pallet which i am happy with now i just want it to fit in with some patterns.
i am not to happy with the patterns in this i feel that they are to overpowering with the colours i have chosen.
i like the shapes but i feel there isnt enough.
this is a pattern that i am happy with for the background, i am very happy with the colours.
for the other video i tried to use just the outlines of the dancers and lines to achieve a abstract feel.
after seeing these images lives i dont like the look so i will just use colours and keep the dancers in blocky outlines.

Export Issues
in this edit you can see how some of the frames leave behind little scratches of colour. this obviously doesnt look good. so i am going to have to try some different exporting techniques.
first i tried to export it as a sequenced PNG
after creating the PNG sequence i opened Quicktime and open image sequence

First up Flash
so i have decided to do one of my videos in flash. i am not 100% sure in what way i am going to do this but am confident and will give it my best shot. whilst trying to import the video i came across a small problem the video actually has to be a FLV to be able to embed it into the timeline.
so to change the format i had to launch Adobe Media Encoder.
after doing this i was able to embed the video into the timeline and this allowed me to trace the video frame by frame.

Idea 3
For my third and final idea i want to use outlines of the dancers and animate them with lines and colours in the background. i am going to rotoscope them with straight lines to give it a different feel to the others where i will try and trace as best i can. i would like to base my ideas on the itunes adverts as i like the idea of just having the outlines of the dancers contrasting with the background.
Idea 2
For another idea i want to use patterns in the piece to create a retro feel. i would like to find and use patterns from the 60's and 70's to create an abstract animation that feels and looks authentic. i decided to do this after watching austin powers for 100th time and thought i could use the patterns to interlink with the style of rotoscoping.
Idea 1
For one of my idea's i want to trace the subject frame by frame in flash to create and sketchy line drawn animation which i am sure will be be very effective. for this idea i am not worried about it being to difficult i just have to prepare myself because i am sure it is going to be time consuming.
this is a simple rotoscope of horses using flash as you can see the line wiggle and move each frame, this is the effect i want to achieve.
this is a rotoscope that one of my friends made. he used Flash and drew each frame one by one.
this is a quick mock up of the drawing i want to achieve and animate.

Ideas
after doing a little research into rotoscoping i have decided a few themes and ideas i want to approach. for the three films i want to create different styles of rotoscoping and i want to do this by using different programs and techniques. at the moment i am very keen on using Flash, After Effects and Photoshop to create my different films and i am sure that if i use these different programs that each rotoscope will have a different feel to it and i will achieve what i want. i want each film to have a different style as there are going to be 31 sections i have to be sure that i am not going to do the same style as anyone else.

take on me - A HA
classic song and this uses rotoscoping so well, transforming a comic into a live action. in this video you can easily see the rotoscoping and its in such great detail.

research
these are two videos i found where they have used rotoscoping, in the music video its alot more imaginative and maybe not all is rotoscoped from live footage. the second one is very basic, a little sketchy and it bounces all over the place.
i would like to achieve something inbetween the two.

New brief
Our latest brief is to rotoscope a dance routine performed by sussex downs dance students. we each get 3 sections of the film which was filmed at the college, after each of us edits our own sections they all get stiched together to one film with lots of different rotoscoping techniques which we have all done. once the film is completed it will be getting projected behind the dancers at the same time as the dance is performed to the public.
